Getting Started Professional Learning Series
Part 1: Introduction to UDL, Personalized Learning and Learner Agency
Join us in the eCourse Getting Started, Part 1: Introduction to UDL, Personalized Learning and Learner Agency. This eCourse will include three (3) informative and interactive live webinars that will introduce you to the UDL Lens and personalized learning and how they are the corner stone in developing learner agency with all learners. Participants will also be invited to join a community of practice where they can discuss UDL, the UDL Lens, personalized learning and learner agency and post questions and have access to the eCourse resources, research and recorded webinars.
Getting Started Professional Learning Series
Part 2: “Empower the Learner using the UDL Lens”
Part 2 is an on-site and online workshop. This is where teachers will learn about the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) lens to understand how learners learn best so they create a learner-centered environment where all children can achieve agency. Participants will:
- apply the UDL lens in the “Empower the Learner” 3-step process to develop learner agency with the learner.
- understand how learners learn best by using and adapting a Learner Profile (LP).
- learn how to develop a Personal Learning Backpack (PLB) with each learner.
- understand how to begin to create a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) with each learner to set goals and action steps to achieve independent skills along with citizenship, college and career goals.
- build an implementation plan around the Part 2 workshop to support your teachers.
Getting Started Professional Learning Series
Part 3: “UDL Lesson Review Process”
Part 2 is an on-site and online workshop. This is where teachers will learn how to apply a four-step UDL Lesson Review Process in daily practice to decide on the methods, materials and assessments that can support all learners in their classes. Participants will:
- create and review the Class Learning Snapshot (CLS).
- describe what learners are required to do and possible barriers they may have..
- create a Class Learning Toolkit (CLT) developing solutions to support instructional practice.
- build an implementation plan around the Part 3 workshop to build capacity.
Getting Started Professional Learning Series
Part 4: “Lesson Design with All Learners in Mind”
This is an on-site and online workshop. This is where teachers will learn how to apply the UDL lens of Access, Engage, and Express in each element of a lesson or unit. Participants will:
- frame and universally design a multi-day lesson, curriculum unit or project.
- develop a standards-based lesson, unit or project applying the UDL Lesson Review Process.
- build an implementation plan involving coaching around the Part 4 workshop.
